Throughout time and prominent in many cultures, the drum is a sacred instrument used to connect to the Spirit world, the inner self, and the world around us. The drum has a special ability to touch, deeply, the inner prayer inside each individual’s heart.
We invite all to join us during the new moon to experience traditions from around the world sharing their sacred drum inheritance. Through the beats participants will be guided through a journey of the heart, spiraling vibrations of love deep into the earth and high into the heart of the universe. Please bring your open heart and open mind so the ancient rhythms can plant good seeds into you life.
This Month's Guest: Amir Vahab
The New York Times calls him the "ambassador for a silenced music." Honored as a peacemaker and virtuoso, Amir Vahab is one of New York’s most celebrated and distinguished composer / vocalists of sufi and folk music. Amir Vahab's music is rooted in tradition, but has been influenced by contemporary sounds. Like Amir himself, his music symbolizes diversity-in-unity.
His performances have been recognized world wide and have inspired many music students. Amir Vahab is currently Teaching and lecturing private and group classes in universities, libraries, museumsand cultural centers on the one hand, and organizes music therapy and sound healing workshops on the other. www.tanbour.org
