Yoga as a Way of Living

Every accomplishment in the path of perfection is a yoga. Cooking with full attention is a yoga. Walking with care is a yoga. The relationship between a teacher and a student is a yoga. The postures and the breath are yoga. So is the choice of what to eat, who to spend time with, and how to meet difficulty. Yoga is not a class. It is a way of living.

What Yoghism means

The synthesis of all the paths of yoga into one coherent whole has a name: Yoghism. It is the third word in the title of the foundational text — Yug Yoga Yoghismo — and it is not a sect or a fifth branch. It is the recognition that the various yogas are tributaries of one current, flowing finally toward the initial Yug — union itself. Yoghism rejects the division of yoga into competing camps. What the tradition points toward is a synthesis: a practitioner who works all the elements together, each supporting the others, toward the single aim of union.

Yoga in daily hours

The interior practices cannot be built on an exterior life that is working against them. This is about coherence, not rigidity. A student who practices for an hour but spends the rest of the day in habits that produce disorder and distraction is working against themselves. Yoghism asks for coherence: the life and the practice pointed the same way. The choices made during ordinary hours — what to eat, how to treat others, what to study — are not separate from yoga. They are yoga, practiced outside the formal session.

The aim of the whole

Yoga, understood as a way of living, moves toward union — not as a concept or a feeling, but as a state of consciousness available through the systematic work of the whole path. The tributaries — postures, breath, attention, discipline, daily habits, the teacher — all flow into one current. That current flows toward Yug: the junction, the joining, the original union from which everything proceeds and toward which everything returns.
