Join us at Golden Drum for a sacred gathering to honor the Winter Solstice, the shortest day and longest night of the year. This powerful moment marks a turning of the cosmic wheel—an invitation to pause, reflect, and align with the deep stillness of winter as we welcome the return of the light.
We will honor this cosmic moment with a cacao ceremony led by members of the Golden Drum community, opening our hearts and grounding our intentions in gratitude and connection. Members of Dream Seed will offer live music and sound journeying to guide us into prayer, meditation, and communion with the celestial energies of this sacred stellar moment.
Why celebrate the Winter Solstice in prayer?
The Winter Solstice is one of the most ancient, sacred astronomical events recognized across cultures and millennia. It is the moment the Sun appears to “stand still” at its southernmost point in the sky before beginning its slow return toward longer days. From a cosmic perspective, the solstice is the solar new year. It represents the rebirth of light after a cycle of descent into darkness. Many traditions in the Northern Hemisphere view these days as a time when the Sun is metaphorically “underground,” gestating its strength to be reborn.
Together we will connect in community and heart, pray for peace, balance, and renewal. Come gather in reverence and beauty as we cross this threshold and welcome the light’s return.
