The Medicine of the Drum: A Holistic Frame Drum Workshop

With Sabine Johanna Mader & Pablo Johann from Austria

An invitation to connect, listen, and be moved by the rhythm within. In this three-hour workshop, we’ll immerse ourselves in the rich and captivating soundscapes of the frame drum.

You’re invited to explore rhythm with all your senses, deepen your listening, experience the nourishing medicine of rhythm, and discover the joy of making music together.

Many drums. ONE groove. ❤️

No previous drumming experience is necessary — just an open mind, a curious spirit, and a willingness to let yourself be carried by the magic of rhythm.

✨ In this workshop, you will:

• Explore the fundamental techniques and expressive language of the frame drum.

• Discover inner balance through dynamic grooves and rhythmic interplay.

• Connect your voice, movement, and rhythm.

• Explore guided visualizations to cultivate inner symmetry and balance.

• Experience rhythm as a pathway to self-awareness, vitality, and your innate capacity for self-healing.

• Discover the joy of drumming and singing together in a supportive and inspiring group setting.

Throughout the workshop, Sabine will be accompanied by her partner, Pablo Johann, whose enchanting guitar melodies will weave an additional layer of musical magic into the experience.

Come as you are, find your rhythm, and let the music bring us together.

Suggested donation: $25 - no one will be turned away for lack of funds.

About Sabine Johanna & Pablo Johann

Sabine Johanna Mader is an Austrian musician, certified art therapist, creative facilitator, visual artist and student of the the sacred traditions of the world under the guidance of her teacher, Maestro Manuel Rufino.

When she first touched a drum more than 30 years ago, she could never have imagined how profoundly the magical world of rhythm would shape her life.

Her musical journey has taken her through a wide range of rhythmic traditions, from West African percussion to Middle Eastern drumming, alongside many years of independent practice, intuitive exploration, and playful experimentation.

Over the past decade, Sabine has increasingly focused on the healing and transformative dimensions of drumming, exploring its role in sound healing and ceremonial music. Inspired and encouraged by her teacher, Maestro Manuel Rufino, she has developed her own distinctive approach to sharing the deeper layers of rhythm in a way that is both playful and holistic.

Through her workshops, classes, drum circles, and private sessions, she invites people to experience the drum not merely as a musical instrument, but as a powerful medium for connection, expression, and inner exploration.

Pablo Johann is a gifted musician, singer-songwriter, composer, yoga teacher, and student of the sacred traditions under the guidance of Maestro Manuel Rufino.

Through his music, Pablo seeks to inspire a new consciousness, touching hearts and creating meaningful connections through his distinctive sound, heartfelt lyrics, and extraordinary songs.

Together, Sabine and Pablo bring their complementary gifts of rhythm, melody, voice, and movement into a shared musical journey that invites people to reconnect with themselves, one another, and the transformative power of sound.

They are the founders of the ATAYA Sacred Sound Collective and the Golden Deer Art Association, a nonprofit arts and cultural organization based in Austria
